Man, so sorry I haven't updated this week yet, been really busy as of late. This blog has actually been written over a couple days. Been all over Osaka this past week, and trust me, it's a rather big city. Me and the other guys and gals have been going around to all different Universities and such, meeting up with friends on their first week of the new semester. Been so much fun, meeting so many people there, it's been great. Man, I really want to study at uni now, it would be cool. Never got to go to university as I failed my TEE way back when. Well maybe when I get back to Australia. We went to this one uni in particular that was fantastic, despite the very unfortunate name of Kinki University. Me and Luke hit the Basketball court and ended up playing in a little three on three tournament with a whole group of guys. Man we were terrible... But the guys were great, so much fun. But then it started to rain and they all ran inside. I wanted to keep playing! I was like standing there calling 'em out and they were all huddled under cover saying I was crazy. I'm gonna try to meet up with those guys again this week. Man they were so much fun. Universities have been so good to us so far. Met so many people. Our phones have been filling up with new people! And it's so funny too. People ask us if we're exchange students or something, we just say no, we're with some friends. They always seem so excited like “Really?! Cool! Please enjoy our University!” I really wanted to say “No, I just really like cafeteria food.” I think it would have been funny. Don't you? Clubs are awesome. I want to join one. They have clubs for like everything imaginable. We even saw a double dutch club! It was run by a chick and her boyfriend was trying to recruit us. I laughed.
We had Church at a new venue this week, and on a Friday night, as we were unable to find a place at a decent price on a sunday morning for some reason. We've had to leave the old live house temporarily as they seem to have outgrown their current venue, and need to find a larger space, thankfully it looks good and we could be back working with Ruido Livehouse next month. Please pray for these guys that they find a great venue and everything goes smoothly with their move. They're a fantastic crew that have always been awesome to work with. But either way, this new place was great, really spacious and with an awesome stage. I personally loved it because unlike at Ruido, I could actually see what was going on when I'm doing the media, and not have a wall between me and the service. At this livehouse however, I have an awesome spot on a balcony looking over everything, best view in the house. Lovin' it. Was able to get some really good photos up there too! Man I need a better lens though... This one is way too dark, especially when at it's highest zoom... 5.6 is woefully incapable... But that's a whole nother story entirely! So yeah, Church this week was really good, due to the sudden change of venue, it seems we were down a bit on the numbers, but never the less the atmosphere and expectancy was great. Such a good energy. Search for Jesus Lifehouse on Flickr, or go to www.jesuslifehouse.com/osaka or my Facebook. Got a lot of photos up on there. Or putting some up soon.
And just to add a major dose of awesomeness to the mix, we're having some baptisms this weekend! Woot! We're looking at having 6 young people baptised this weekend from our church. Going to have an afternoon of iceskating and icefalling followed by the baptisms! Much greatness abounds! Please keep them in your prayers that they'd feel encouraged and ready to take this step. Cause it really is a big deal and a powerful thing.
On a lighter note, a whole bunch of the guys from church went to see the Foo Fighters live last night. Sadly I can not, as I'm trying to be rather stringent with my money. The funny thing though is that my flatmate/church lead guitarist shaved before he left, but as a special tribute to Dave Grohl, he now has a top notch pool-cleaner moustache. It's classy.
So yeah, was in a store the other day and they had the new Pentax K20d Digital SLR. A lone tear ran down my cheek. This thing was beautiful.
Oh! Check on YouTube and search for Jesus Lifehouse Osaka. We've been putting up videos of testimonies of some of the people from our church, how they got saved. Alternatively, just go straight to the JLHOsaka channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/JLHOsaka Really cool stuff.
Well I think that just about wraps up this week. I think this week, if you could help in prayer for strengthening relationships with people we're meeting and further opportunities. And employment seems to be a bit of an issue with a few of the members of the team. Either for like needing second jobs or more hours or a whole new job. So yeah, some things to keep in your prayers, that'd be cool. You know, you all rock, it's been so amazing seeing the amount of support me and the team are getting from people all over the joint. Please keep it up, it's such an amazing encouragement. So thank you all. So much.
Your's truly
Joel
